A 27-year-old Ohio woman has been arrested and charged with a felony after allegedly stomping her cat to death and then eating its corpse in front of horrified neighbors.

Kelsey Canfield, of Dayton, was arrested on Tuesday, August 1, after police responded to a call about a woman acting strangely in the street.

According to police, Canfield was found covered in blood and holding a dead cat. She allegedly told police that she had killed the cat and eaten its remains.

Canfield was taken into custody and charged with one count of felony animal cruelty. She is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

If convicted, Canfield could face up to five years in prison.
