JuJu Smith-Schuster Signs Contract With Pittsburgh Steelers
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster Signs 1-Year, $8 Million Contract with Pittsburgh Steelers
Contract Includes $7 Million Signing Bonus
Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year, $8 million contract, including a $7 million signing bonus. Smith-Schuster, who was released by the New England Patriots earlier this week, joins the Steelers after three seasons with the Patriots.
Smith-Schuster's release from the Patriots came as a surprise, as he was expected to be a key part of their offense in 2023. However, the Patriots decided to release him in order to clear cap space. The Steelers, who were in need of a wide receiver after trading Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears, quickly swooped in to sign Smith-Schuster.
Smith-Schuster is a talented wide receiver who has been productive throughout his career. He has caught at least 50 passes in each of his three seasons with the Patriots, and he has scored 15 touchdowns. He is also a good blocker, which makes him a valuable asset to the Steelers' offense.
The Steelers are hoping that Smith-Schuster can help them return to the playoffs in 2023. They finished 9-8 last season and missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Smith-Schuster will be a key part of their offense, along with quarterback Kenny Pickett and running back Najee Harris.
