Chintels Paradiso Towers: Evacuation Ordered After IIT-Delhi Structural Audit Report

Unsafe Towers at Chintels Paradiso: Evacuation Ordered

Residents of Tower J of Chintels Paradiso Group Housing in Gurugram, Haryana, have been ordered to evacuate immediately after an IIT-Delhi structural audit report deemed the tower unsafe. The report, released on January 5, 2023, found that the tower poses a significant risk to its occupants.

Structural Audit Report Reveals Unsafe Conditions

The audit report identified several structural deficiencies in Tower J, including cracks in load-bearing walls, inadequate reinforcement in columns, and corrosion in steel beams. These deficiencies have compromised the building's stability and could lead to a collapse if not addressed promptly.

Chintels Request for Evacuation

In light of the structural audit report, Chintels Paradiso Group Housing sent a letter to the Gurugram Deputy Commissioner, requesting the immediate evacuation of Tower J and the demolition of the unsafe towers in the housing society.

Previous Collapse at Tower D

The order to evacuate Tower J comes after a portion of a sixth-floor apartment in the housing society's Tower D collapsed on February 10, 2023. The collapse resulted in the death of two residents and raised concerns about the safety of the other towers in the complex.

Gurugram Administration Takes Action

The Gurugram district administration has taken swift action to address the safety concerns at Chintels Paradiso. In addition to ordering the evacuation of Tower J, the administration has also issued an order for the demolition of five towers in the housing society that have been declared unsafe by the structural audit report.
