NFL Draft Day 1 Grades: Round 3
Assessing Team Performances and Player Value
By Chris Trapasso
The third round of the 2024 NFL Draft featured a flurry of exciting picks and intriguing prospects. After analyzing each selection, here are my grades for each team's moves:
Buffalo Bills: B+
The Bills addressed their secondary concerns by selecting the talented cornerback Deion Smith. His athleticism and ball-hawking instincts make him a great fit for Buffalo's defense.
Cincinnati Bengals: A-
The Bengals continued to bolster their offensive line, adding the versatile guard Zion Johnson. Johnson's strength and footwork will provide stability for quarterback Joe Burrow.
Cleveland Browns: C
The Browns surprisingly used their first pick on the running back Ezra Clemons. While he's a physical runner, his lack of speed and pass-catching ability raise some questions about his value.
Dallas Cowboys: B
The Cowboys wisely addressed their pass rush by selecting the edge rusher Isaiah Foskey. Foskey's explosiveness and relentless motor will be a welcome addition to the Dallas defense.
Green Bay Packers: B
With their first pick of the day, the Packers selected the tight end Josh Whyle. Whyle's size, athleticism, and soft hands make him a potential playmaker for Aaron Rodgers.
Conclusion:
The third round of the 2024 NFL Draft showcased a diverse group of prospects, each with their strengths and weaknesses. Teams made key moves to address their needs, setting the stage for an exciting and unpredictable Day 2.
